The Ultimate Maldives Liveaboard Experience

There’s something truly magical about exploring the Maldives from the sea. Imagine waking up each morning to the sound of gentle waves, diving into crystal-clear waters filled with marine life, and ending your day watching the sun melt into the horizon from a rooftop jacuzzi.
Welcome aboard Family Diver’s Liveaboard – your home at sea.

The Best Route of the Maldives

We take pride in following what we call the “Best Route of the Maldives” — a journey through some of the country’s most spectacular atolls. From South Male to Vaavu atoll, Ari Atoll, finishing in Rasdhoo each stop offers something unique: thrilling drift dives, pristine coral gardens, and encounters with the Maldives’s most iconic creatures.

Comfort at Sea

Our Liveaboard is spacious, comfortable, and designed with divers in mind. You’ll enjoy three delicious meals a day, prepared with care by our onboard chef — fresh, diverse, and full of flavor. Between dives, there’s plenty of space to relax: stretch out on a sunbed, soak in the sunshine, or simply enjoy the turquoise views all around you.

Rooms

There are two kinds of rooms on our Liveaboard. The deck rooms and the superior rooms. Both type have 2 separate beds and private toilets. The superior rooms have a big window with a sea view and a balcony. The deck rooms are spacious and with very comfortable beds. The comfort of our guests is one of our top priorities!

Dive with Locals, Learn from Experts

Our trips are accompanied by experienced local dive instructors who know the reefs better than anyone. They’ll guide you safely through every dive and share fascinating insights about the underwater world.
Between dives, we also host informative presentations about marine species — from manta ray behavior to shark conservation — turning every trip into both an adventure and a learning experience.

Dive sites

The best route of Maldives can be done clock wise or anti clock wise, depending on the weather and predictions. Our knowledgable dive instructors will decide the best order to enjoy the route.

An example of gorgeous dive site is Alimatha Yetti, where you’ll be able to dive with dozens of nurse sharks just swimming gracefully around you.

A Family at Sea

What makes our Liveaboard truly special is the atmosphere on board. Within a day, everyone feels like family. We share stories over dinner, exchange underwater photos and videos, and sometimes even play music and dance together at sunset.
By the end of the week, you’re not just leaving with dive memories — you’re leaving with new friends.

At Family Divers, we’ve chosen not to take part in shark feeding.

While this popular practice—feeding sharks at specific dive sites to attract them—can make the experience seem more thrilling, it raises an important question: should we really feed sharks when we can observe them naturally, without interference?

Feeding alters their natural behaviour and can have unintended negative impacts on the divers’s safety as well as the shark’s… Because we truly care about their wellbeing and about preserving the balance of the marine ecosystem, we’ve decided to enjoy encounters with sharks in the most natural, respectful way possible.

And rest assured — that hasn’t stopped us from experiencing some of the most unforgettable dives the Maldives has to offer!

Diving Dhoni & Nitrox

Our diving boat, called a “Dhoni” in Dhivehi (the Maldivian language), is an essential part of our Liveaboard experience.
The Dhoni operates separately from the main boat and carries all the diving equipment, including the compressor. This setup allows our crew to fill tanks at night away from the main vessel — meaning no noise and uninterrupted rest for everyone on board.

Much larger than the typical Zodiac boats used in Europe, the Dhoni comfortably stores all your gear for the entire trip. We’ll head out on it three times a day to reach our dive sites — and it’ll be there to pick us up after each dive.

All dives on this Liveaboard are conducted on Nitrox, so we ask that divers have their Nitrox certification ready before joining. Diving on Nitrox means longer, safer, and more comfortable dives — perfect for making the most of your Maldivian underwater adventures!

One of the highlights of our trip is the unforgettable Manta Night Dive.

Just after sunset, we descend into the calm darkness and place our torches gently on the sand… then, we simply wait and let the magic unfold. Within minutes, tiny plankton, already present in the water, gather around the beams of light — and soon, the majestic mantas arrive to enjoy their nighttime plankton feast.

The experience is absolutely mesmerizing: mantas glide and swirl above our heads, performing elegant loops and somersaults just meters away. It truly feels like being in an underwater theatre — all we have to do is sit back, stay still, and enjoy the show.

A day onboard

During this journey along the best route of the Maldives, you’ll enjoy up to three dives a day — sometimes even four!

Each morning begins with an early dive before breakfast (don’t worry, there’s always a light snack ready for early risers). After surfacing, a freshly prepared breakfast awaits on board. You’ll then have some time to relax before your second dive of the day.

Lunch is served once we’re back on the boat, followed by a bit of downtime — perfect for sunbathing, reading, or simply soaking in the view — before heading out for the afternoon dive. On one special day, we’ll add a fourth dive: the famous Manta Night Dive, a shallow and truly magical experience under the stars.

Each dive is preceded by a detailed briefing covering the dive site, conditions, and the marine life you might encounter — so you always know what to expect (and what to look out for!).

The Perfect Ending

On the last night, we anchor at a private island for a beach BBQ under the stars. Freshly grilled fish, music, conversations between ocean lovers, and the soft sound of the waves — it’s the perfect way to celebrate an unforgettable week in the Maldives.

Our Commitment to the Ocean

At Family Divers, we deeply value the protection of reefs and marine life. We kindly ask all our divers to maintain good buoyancy and avoid touching corals or marine creatures. Corals are living animals that take years to grow — even a single careless fin kick can destroy decades of nature’s work.

The same applies to marine life: no chasing, no touching, only observing. We’ve found that the most magical encounters happen when divers remain calm and respectful — that’s when the animals feel safe enough to come close. Last time we set sail, we were treated to an incredible sight — hammerhead sharks gliding through the blue one morning, a tornado of over 60 manta rays dancing in the current another. Moments like these remind us why we love what we do.

If you’d like to take your care for the ocean one step further, we encourage you to use reef-safe sunscreen. Conventional sunscreens contain chemicals that are toxic to corals and fish, while reef-safe alternatives help keep the marine environment healthy and thriving. (Trust us — the ocean and its inhabitants will thank you!)

Cameras

You’re more than welcome to bring your camera along on this trip — there will be plenty of unforgettable moments to film! Our instructors will also be capturing footage throughout the dives and will be happy to share the videos with you afterwards.

If you’d prefer to simply relax and enjoy the dive without worrying about your camera, that’s perfectly fine too — we’ll make sure the memories are beautifully recorded for you.
